About Me

Hi there! My name is Sue Schellenberg and I would like to welcome you to Suzy Q’s Quilt Shop, located in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

My business adventures began after my son was born, when we made the family decision for me to start a business from home rather than returning to my career in post secondary education. I was told once that in order to have a successful home business, it has to be something you love – well, there was just no contest! Quilting is was to be. So in the summer or 2002, we purchased an American Professional Quilting System, renovated our basement, and I practiced, practiced, and then practiced some more. Then…life as Suzy Q began. In 2008, I took a break from the home business life as I was recruited into working ‘outside’ the home, but now – 2009 - the quilter in me is returning – and new plans are in the works!

Suzy Q’s newest business adventure is the opening a retail store - Suzy Q’s Quilt Shop!  We officially opened the doors on November 14, 2009 and the response has been awesome. Thanks to everyone who helped helped us set up and get to where we are now! i would also like to thank my staff for all their efforts and committment in making this a fabulous quilt shop. I also want to thank to all of our loyal customers! I thank you for your support, feedback and look forward to continuing to grow the shop, meeting new people and continuing to build new relationships.
